Laser Tag always seemed like it would be fun. That is, until I tried it, and realized something -- I'm terrible at laser tag.

The kids and I met my brother and his family at Planet X in Cedar Rapids last night.  After an evening of rides and games, we decided to close out the evening with a game of laser tag. Teams of 4 shoot it out in a dark course filled with places to hide. You wear a vest with targets on it, and you have a laser pistol. The premise is simple: Shoot the players on the other team and avoid getting shot.

At the end of your 15 minutes, you exit and recieve a print out of your statistics, which include shots fired, players hit, and percentage of hits per shots fired. My 10-year-old son, Chase, had the best stats. He hit on 31% of his shots. My brother had the most points on our team. What did I have? The most shots fired (by a lot), and the LOWEST percentage of hits -- 3%. Really? 3%? Our team got smoked by the other squad, with no thanks to me. The funny thing is, during the game, I thought I was doing really well!

Moral of the story, don't pick me to be on your laser tag team. Apparently I'm too big a target.
