I remember begging my parents to please let us open just one Christmas present early.  Sometimes they did, but it wasn't anything huge.  Nothing we were really wanting, like toys or video games.  This year, my 10 year old son wanted a laptop.  I found one online and ordered it.  It came in the mail earlier than I thought, and thanks to my 4 year old daughter, my son found out it had come.  The game was on.

The never ending questions about when he could open his new computer began.  Could he have it early?  Did he have to wait until Christmas?  Non stop.  Everyday.  My wife and I were on the fence about whether or not to make him wait.  We talked with some friends and relatives and came to the conclusion that maybe he won't like it on Christmas when his sisters are still opening gifts, and he already has his.  So we gave in.

Was it my proudest parenting moment?  No.  Would MY parents have done it?  Probably not.  So, go ahead parents.  Let me have it!  Have YOU ever given in, and let your child open a present early?
