Brain Faces A Week Of No Internet

My Tuesday off didn't go exactly as planned. First off, a family trip to Adventureland was rained out so we returned from Des Moines earlier than planned. But that wasn't the roughest part of life at the Brainard house. We didn't have any internet access.

We switched internet providers recently and when installing the new modem it wasn't connecting correctly. I called customer support for help and they determined that it was a problem with wiring into our house. They'd be more than happy to send someone out to help on Tuesday. The only problem was that Tuesday we'd be in Des Moines. All day. So the next day they could send help was...Saturday. We'd have to go nearly a whole week...WITHOUT INTERNET!

Now I can get by without internet access for a little while. I can always check facebook and other sites on my phone if I need to. But the kids? They've spoiled! They've been raised in a home that has always had wifi! No online games. No streaming videos from youtube. No streaming music from Spotify. The humanity! But a little bad luck on Tuesday turned into some great luck for my family.

We got rained out in Des Moines Tuesday so we headed home early. Around 4:30 yesterday afternoon there was a knock at my door. Who was it? The internet company repair man! He'd finished up his repairs for the day and just thought he'd stop by and see if we were home. After around 15 to 20 minutes of diagnosis and repair, the new modem was humming and the wifi was back up! I've got to give a huge thank you to this repair man for coming over when he technically didn't have to. He brought life back to normal at the Brainard house!
