Black Bear Spotted In NE Iowa [Photo]
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has confirmed a black bear siting in far NE Iowa.
The bear was spotted in Clayton County, just outside of the Yellow River State Forest. It's the second report of a black bear this year. The bears usually migrate from Minnesota & Wisconsin and usually don't stick around in Iowa.
DNR spokesman Alan Foster told Radio Iowa what to do if you see a bear. "Don’t go near it. Don’t try to get close for a close-up picture. Just give it its space and maintain distance.”
It's breeding season for black bears and it's not uncommon for around five of them to be spotted in Iowa during a given year. Keep your eyes open, you might see one next.
