It's been nearly a year since we learned that the former Nash Finch distribution site in northeast Cedar Rapids would be undergoing a transformation. Twelve months later, the signs are obvious.

The former Nash Finch site is a huge one. It covers 23-acres along one of Cedar Rapids' busy roadways, and the demolition phase is moving fast. What's to come in "Northtowne Market," as it will be called? It's expected to have everything from retail stores to offices and much more according to Greg Swartzendruber, director of development for Hunter Companies who is building and developing the site.

One thing that's a definite is a new stop light between the development and Target, which sits across the street. No complaints here as a site, which frankly had become an eye sore, springs back to life just in time for the spring season.
