Leave nature alone. It's a tough lesson to learn sometimes. It's one that was driven home at Yellowstone National Park this week. On May 9th, a tourist and his son saw a baby bison and thought that the animal looked cold. So they loaded it up in their SUV and took it to a ranger's station. Officials say that they honestly thought they were helping the animal. They didn't.

The baby bison had to be euthanized because it had been rejected by its herd due to human interference. Its own mother rejected it, and the baby animal was wandering around the park getting dangerously close to vehicles on the roadway. So rangers had to put the animal down.

This incident is the latest when it comes to people wanting to get close to nature. Yellowstone faces situations like this often. People getting too close to animals. Park visitors taking selfies with animals! Yes...selfies. One of the park rangers said it best. This isn't a zoo....it's Yellowstone. They can't be concerned with the well-being of one animal. It's the ecosystem they must be concerned with.

The tourists who took the baby bison were fined $110 for their acts. They stole a lot more than that.
