Portion of 7th Avenue in Marion Closing Thursday

A section of 7th Avenue, near the Marion downtown area, will be completely closed beginning Thursday morning. The closure will last until at least the weekend.

A roundabout is being installed at the corner of 7th Avenue and 7th Street and the construction area is retaining water from today's rainfall, due to storm sewer problems. The eastbound lanes are already closed to traffic.

Beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, 7th Avenue between 6th and 9th Streets will be closed. It will remain closed until work is completed, hopefully by Saturday. While that will result in a detour for drivers, all the businesses in that stretch will remain open via access from 6th or 8th Avenues.
