I'd almost lost hope. April 20th, nothing. April 30th, nothing. However, as the calendar switched to May, things changed.

We had this Maple tree installed by the City of Cedar Rapids in the fall of 2013. It was a replacement for an Ash tree whose best days were definitely over. We've mulched it, watered it, and watched it grow to probably 15 feet tall. This spring, nothing. I had begun to be concerned as all of our other trees... ok, there are only four others... had sprung to life. The others (two oaks and two maples) were all well on their way to being fully leafed-out in the last couple weeks. The young maple stood quietly. Julie said, "Be patient." I worry... she doesn't.

When I got home from work last night, magic had happened. Not only was the Maple suddenly "budding," but those buds had grown more than an inch in some cases, in 24-hours. Welcome to spring young Maple... we're glad you finally decided to join the party.
