Money can be a game-changer.  Just ask Steve Coburn and Perry Martin.  They're the two men who own the 2014 Kentucky Derby-winning horse, 'California Chrome.'  A horse that's the offspring of one they paid $8,000 for.  They purchased the breeding rights for a stallion for another $2,000, and months later 'California Chrome' was born.  Today, that horse tries to win the second round of the Triple Crown at the Preakness Stakes.

Sure 'California Chrome' has changed the lives of the owners, but suffice it to say that horse changed a lot of other people's lives with its Derby win as well.  What a difference $10,000 can make.
