The restaurant carnage continues in northeast Cedar Rapids.

A stretch of Collins Road that has already seen the closure of a Pizza Hut, Village Inn, Burger King, and more, has seen another permanently close its doors. The latest is what was one of the city's few remaining buffets: Ryan's Grill, Buffet, and Bakery.

CBS 2 reports there's a sign on the front door of what was Ryan's only Iowa location that says,

To our valued guests, this location is now closed. Thank you for your business and we hope to serve you at another location very soon. Please visit to find your nearest location."

My last visit to Ryan's was last spring when my parents were in town. It was the first time I'd been there in years and honestly, I was very disheartened by the food. Reviews on Google seem to agree. There are 171, and the average score is just 2.8 stars, out of a possible five.

The former Pizza Hut building across Collins Road and further east towards Lindale Mall remains empty. How long will Ryan's sit vacant in an area constantly bustling with traffic that continues to see restaurants close their doors?
