Dear Brain and Steele,

I am a 22 year old student at Kirkwood. I am having some issues with my family – mainly my sister. I want to say that I love my sister, and although she probably wouldn’t believe it – I really look up to her. The problem is that my sister is an overachiever and has done everything “right” in my family’s eyes. She graduated near the top of her class from Iowa State, has a great job, and lives in a nice condo. I am constantly compared to her and I hear “why can’t you be more like your sister?” at least three times a week.

I know that at 22 I should have figured out what to do with my life. That hasn’t happened yet. I still live at home – but hope to be out after I graduate in December. My parents and my sister really come down on me hard and it’s tough for me to argue because I feel like such a screw up next to her. I feel like I am stuck. What can I do?
