It's been nearly seven years since the devastating flood that crippled so many residents and businesses in Cedar Rapids. As the recovery continues, so does the effort to protect us from future flooding events.

Quaker Oats built their own flood wall to protect their plant in downtown Cedar Rapids after it was inundated with water in June of 2008. Fittingly enough, that's where an important sign of the city's eventual protection for both sides of the Cedar River is now placed. A small sign of what eventually will be a massive change along the river. Changes that are necessary and vital not only to the business and residential communities financial well-being, but to our peace of mind as well.
