The 27th annual Ryan Norlin Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Anamosa last Saturday promised pumpkins bigger than you'd ever seen. It didn't disappoint! There were 11 pumpkins that weighed in over 1,000 pounds. Growers from all over the mid-west hauled in their huge pumpkins to the Lawrence Center in Anamosa. As off mid-morning, a new site record had been set at over 1,745 pounds! But there were rumors that a bigger pumpkin was on the way. Word quickly spread that it might be in excess of 2,000 pounds. When it finally arrived, the crowd quickly gathered around the scale so it could see the results live. A new record was set...2,034 pounds! Check out my pictures of some of the pumpkins below.

Along with the giant pumpkins, there were also record setting watermelons, the largest weighed 177 pounds, and gourds -- the longest was over 129 inches! It was a great fall day and a great way to ring in October. Nothing beats the big pumpkins at Anamosa's Pumpkinfest.
