A Great Lesson For My Track-Running Nephews

I have two nephews who run high school and middle school track and I'm willing to bet this video is one their coaches will share with them. It's what you absolutely should NOT do when you're leading the field.

There's a couple lessons to be learned from this video. Number one, be a good sport. Exhorting on the crowd before crossing the finish line is very unsportsmanlike, and almost as stupid. Number two, never slow down before hitting that finish line. You may think you know exactly where all your opponents are, but...

It's a lesson that seems hard to learn. Former Iowa Safety John Lowdermilk made a similar mistake in football in the Outback Bowl earlier this year. One thing about it, do it once and you'll never do it again.
