Growing up, she was my one of my closest friends and was an advice-giver and confidant. Even though we don't see each other as often as we'd like anymore, we still share hugs each time we get together. She's my sister, Terri.

Growing up, we'd play wiffle ball in the yard or bottle-feed baby goats, and of course trick-or-treat together. During elementary school, we moved just outside of town, but sometimes it felt like we were a long ways away from anyone else. Maybe that's why we grew so close. During high school, she was diagnosed with a rare spinal problem that would require surgery. She came through it with flying colors, and even when bed-ridden for quite some time, always seemed to have a smile. I wouldn't have been that strong.

Today, she's married to a great guy who's also my wife's brother (that's for another blog but it's all legal, I promise) and has three wonderful kids. She's a leader in her church, a school teacher, and a fantastic mom.

On this National Sibling Day, I celebrate and salute you sis. I love you.
