Parents, you already know life can be hectic.  Trying to get the kids to school, daycare, practice, picking them up from school.  The list goes on and on.  Yesterday, I worked my normal time, so I wasn't around in the morning to help my wife with the kids.  Normally not a big deal.  However, she had to work at 9am, and again at 2pm.  Throw in a 2 hour late start for school, and you've got morning chaos!  Here is a brief rundown of how yesterday was for my wife and I.

  • Since my wife worked at 9am, and school was 2 hours late she had to drop the kids off at sitters.  Chase went to a friends house so he could get to his school.  My daughters went to an in home daycare.
  • When I got off work at 11am, I hurried to that daycare and picked up my daughters.  I then drove to Carly's elementary school and dropped her off for the remainder of her day.
  • Cayleigh and I then got to go home.  For a couple of hours.
  • At 315 we picked up Carly from her school and headed home.
  • At home I got ready for my remote in Iowa City, and got the girls ready to drop off at the daycare at my wife's work.
  • I drop the girls off at 4pm and head to my remote.
  • Grandma picks up the girls when she gets off work around 5pm and takes them to her house since both my wife and I are at work.
  • When my remote is done at 7pm, I head back to Marion to pick up Chase, who went to a friends house after school.
  • After I pick him up I get the girls and their grandparents house.
  • We all finally get home at 8pm.

I'm not saying that is the craziest day in the history of parenting, but it's a nice reminder to people who don't have any kids of what we have to go through sometimes. Don't get too mad at us when we can't do something last minute. You'd be surprised at how much is involved at making it happen!
