This weekend they're celebrating the Movie "Field of Dreams" at the original location in Dyersville, IA.

Actor Kevin Costner will revisit the Field of Dreams this weekend as part of the classic film’s 25th anniversary celebration, though tickets have almost all been reserved.

Costner will appear with a few other cast members including Dwier Brown, who portrayed Ray Kinsella’s father, and Timothy Busfield, the frustrated brother-in-law trying to dissuade Costner’s character from plowing up his cornfield for a baseball diamond. For the Father’s Day weekend, there are also a number of family-oriented events like a game of catch on the field.

NBC sportscaster Bob Costas interviews the cast on Friday at 8:30 p.m., after an introduction from Gov. Terry Branstad. "Field of Dreams" will be shown in center field following the interview.

Costner and a handful of other sports, television and movie stars will be featured during Saturday afternoon’s celebrity game.

The public is invited to the movie site hours before the actor’s key performances. Most of the events are free but tickets are still required to enter the movie site.

Tickets are available on fieldofdreamsmoviesite.com, in person at the chamber of commerce in Dyersville or the movie site gift shop.

Little known facts about the Movie...

The Movie was close to filming outside of Cedar Rapids. It was about 26 years ago when Hollywood was scouting farms around Eastern Iowa for the background for the Field of Dreams. A Friend of Our's Family Farm was considered in the running here in Linn County, but the Producer's decided on the Farm outside of Dyersville.

Joe Jackson batted left-handed in real life, not right-handed as Ray Liotta portrayed. He also threw right-handed and not left-handed like it shows when Kevin Costner is hitting him fly balls to left field.

On some shots which look back at Ray when he's driving his pickup, it can be clearly seen at the bottom of the picture that the front wheels of the pickup are sitting on a trailer, which is itself being towed by the camera vehicle.

For the final scene in the movie, the Producer's need a long line of vehicles driving into the farmstead so they used Radio & TV to get the word out that they needed people to drive out to the farm for the final scene and had them line up on gravel roads on the way to the farm. The public responded and loads and loads of vehicles came. It was like a big party on the gravel roads.

When first filming the final scene towards dusk... everyone had there lights on, but from the sky it looked like a big line of lights. The producers then asked everyone to blink their to give more of an effect of cars moving.
