Say it ain't so!

According to McDonald's, the most classic item on their menu is falling flat with millennials. Only 1 in 5 of the group have tried a Big Mac in their lifetime.

As a millennial, I'm not surprised by this. Why? Well, because I didn't try my first Big Mac until a couple of years ago, and I only tried it because I felt like I should, not because I really wanted to. My mom is a big fan of the Big Mac, and I realized after she ordered it that I had never had one, so I made her give me a bite. Did I like it? Sure, but there are plenty of other items on the menu that I like way more. Plus, when I'm looking for a quality burger, McDonald's isn't the first place I think to go. Apparently I'm not alone. According to AV Club, "fast-food consumers prioritize quality of products over 'healthy' options, and McDonald’s isn’t exactly known for its fresh ingredients." While McDonald's burger sales have pretty much flat-lined, burger chains like Five Guys, Smashburger, and Shake Shack are gaining popularity, especially among millennials. In response, McDonald's has put together a "sensory panel" to come up with new options and ideas for their burgers. It'll be interesting to see what they try next.

Are you one of these people who have never had a Big Mac? Why not? Let us know in the comments.
